I am part of a wonderful group of artists–MMX–Mixed Media Ten. Our work is varied and everchanging. Many media, techniques, and subjects are represented by these artists. Trusted relationships allow for honest and helpful critiques.

We’ll be showing together soon at the Gladwyne Library. “Small Art: big impact.” Here are a few of my offerings.

Exhibit at Gallery St. Asaph

I’m pretty excited about the exhibit that the Delaware Valley Collage Collaborative is planning for February 27-March 29 at Gallery St. Asaph in Bala Cynwyd, PA. I am honored to be a part of DVCC and enjoy the artists involved. Our styles and subject matter are distinct and yet speak to each other. Opening reception is Friday, February 27 from 6:00-8:00 pm.

CraftForms at Wayne Art Center

The annual CraftForms 2014 exhibition at the Wayne Arts Center is a must see show this year! The theme is Living with Craft and there are many unusual pieces displayed in a home like setting. Inspiring! The collage pieces by Laurie Dadona’s students look great in the hallways at the Center. Glad to be a part of this vital community arts resource.

Visiting other artists

On Saturday, a rainy and miserable day, I visited the studios of three different artists who were participating in a ten artist open house in the Havertown/Ardmore, PA area. It was a wonderful event despite the weather. The artists represent many different media including oil, acrylic, jewelery, pottery, ceramics, and fiber. One of the artists, Ilene Pearlman, creates very evocative art quilts out of found materials. I recognized one piece that had been juried into the Art Quilt Elements show at the Wayne Art Center several years ago. Her work can be seen here: http://www.ilenepearlman.com/
What an inspiration!

Tidying up the studio

While my creative juices seem to flow when there is clutter around me, sometimes I need to take time to tidy up the studio. I’ve just completed a number of collage and printing projects and I’ve now sorted and put away the papers, glues, and printing plates that were involved in those activities.

My next project is a challenge for myself… create a four season story quilt (like the one in the Gallery) out of felt. Working small, adding detail, harmonious colors…

Updates to come.
